Chef – Hospitality & Tourism – Malta Full Time

Location: Malta

We are looking for a skilled and passionate Chef to join our team at a prestigious Four-Star or Five-Star hotel in Malta. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in culinary excellence, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality dishes that delight our guests.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure all food is of excellent quality and served promptly.
• Plan the menu, considering the budget and availability of seasonal ingredients.
• Oversee all kitchen operations to maintain efficiency and quality.
• Coordinate and assist kitchen staff as needed.
• Train staff to prepare and cook all menu items to standard.
• Take inventory of ingredients and equipment, placing orders to replenish stock as needed.
• Enforce safety and sanitation standards in the kitchen.
• Develop new recipes to keep the menu innovative and appealing.
• Stay updated with industry trends to enhance the dining experience.
• Receive feedback from guests and staff and make improvements as necessary.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Science or a relevant field.
• Food handling certificate and Skill Pass are mandatory.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role within a Four-Star or Five-Star hotel.
• Strong knowledge of cooking methods, kitchen equipment, and industry best practices.
• Proficiency in MS Office and restaurant software programs.
• Team-oriented with excellent leadership and organizational abilities.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary:

• Basic Monthly Wage: €1,200/month Gross with paid overtime.

Leave Entitlements:

• Paid Vacation Leave: 240 hours as per Malta law.
• Parental Leave: Unpaid leave of up to 4 months for birth, adoption, or legal custody of a child (valid until the child reaches 8 years).
• Urgent Family Leave: Up to 15 hours annually for family emergencies, deducted from vacation leave.

Sick Leave:

• 15 days of full pay and 36 days of half-pay upon completing the probationary period.

Other Benefits:

• Automatic salary adjustments for cost-of-living increases when applicable.
• The gross base pay is subject to applicable taxes.
